Hannah Cheney, MS Administrative Program Officer Hannah grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina and was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age nine. She received her Bachelor of Science from Northeastern University, where she completed a dual degree in International Business with three minors in Spanish, Marketing, and International Affairs as well as a Master of Science in International Management. In 2014, Hannah joined AYUDA as a volunteer in the Dominican Republic and served as a Volunteer Mentor-in-Training the following summer for the Campo Amigo program. She then served as a Volunteer Mentor in the Dominican Republic for the Campo Amigo program for the following two summers. Hannah then worked as a Program Leader both in 2018 and 2019, and returned as a Program Leader once again in 2024. She is based in Boston, where she has spent time working in the biotech and women’s health industries. Now, she works as a member of the Growth Marketing team at Demandbase, leveraging her experiences to boost digital marketing and encourage sales and marketing alignment. Originally from Los Angeles, CA, she is currently in her first year of college at the University of Virginia. Susanna shared that AYUDA is so special to her, and she can’t wait to share this beautiful program with some wonderful new volunteers. He also started the first chapter of The Diabetes Link at LMU and has been the president for over a year now. David joined AYUDA in 2025 as a volunteer for the Campo Amigo program in the Dominican Republic and will return this year as a VMiT. After being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 2023, he became passionate about supporting and empowering others living with the same condition. David enjoys working with children and using his love for teaching to inspire and connect with others. I am a freshman at Colorado College in Colorado Springs, and I have lived with Type I Diabetes for 10 years. I am so excited to return to the Dominican Republic with AYUDA this year as a VMiT. The past two summers volunteering with AYUDA and Campo Amigo have taught me so much about myself and how to educate and support others living with diabetes. I am so grateful for the friendships I have formed through Aprendiendo A Vivir and AYUDA, and I cannot wait for another summer at Campo Amigo!
